KU Engage

KU Engage was a campaigns capstone project in my second semester of senior year. We were asked by the Student Engagement Center (SEC) to overhaul their messaging and branding. For this project, I served as Account Executive.

Context

The SEC is a department within Student Affairs that serves as a hub for student involvement, leadership development, impact programs and resources, and community involvement. Prior to the 2024-2025 academic year, these services were spread across campus and managed by themselves. In September of 2024, the university announced these services were being consolidated into a new center.

Between poor messaging, branding, and Kansas HB 2105, students were upset. Despite no services being closed, students protested through the group Save Our Centers — a group aiming to reinstate these services, and condemning the university for an apparent overreaction to anti-DEI legislation. However, no services or resources were closed. It was a merger of all the services and resources into one centralized location, under one name. An effort to protect them from anti-DEI legislation.

The SEC asked us to create a brand that corrected incorrect or misinformed narratives. Below is the plansbook that was submitted to the SEC, which outlines our research, and recommendations.
